Each year the pond gains a few more residents. Turtles are appearing, which indicates there are fish in the 2-year-old pond. I’ve noticed crawfish there, as have the birds, but I wonder if humans put those there. The pond has been restocked each spring and the wildlife seems to appreciate it. And I appreciate sightings of such creatures as the great blue heron.
This guy is apparently the pond owner. He ran off a heron that was fishing before he came. The other heron was slightly larger but apparently didn’t want to fight today.
